artgenève / 30.01 - 02.02.2020 / Palexpo Geneva

VIP Preview: 29.01.2020, 2 - 9pm

For its next edition end of January 2020, artgenève will bring together around 90 galleries, including newcomers Lévy Gorvy, Applicat-Prazan, Campoli Presti, von Bartha, Loevenbruck, David Lewis and Massimo De Carlo who will join dealers faithful to the fair such as Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, Pace, kamel mennour, Perrotin, 1900-2000, Capitain Petzel, Continua, Tornabuoni Art and Blain|Southern, to name a few.

The rich institutional and curatorial program, original trademark of the salon d’art, is also expanding. In addition to regional institutions such as Mamco Genève and Plateforme 10, which was recently inaugurated in Lausanne, artgenève will have the honor of hosting ICA Milano, the Royal Academy of Arts from London with a vast installation by Michael Craig-Martin, Le Consortium from Dijon, the Ringier Collection from Zurich with a floating installation by artist Urs Fischer and a monographic exhibition of David Shrigley presented by a major private collection of the region, among other surprises. artgenève/estates, a series of exhibitions dedicated to historical artists, will be devoted this year to Mario Merz and his distinguished igloos staged together with other installations by the artist.

Architecture will also be represented inside the exhibition hall with Jean Prouvé's pavilion installed in The Living Room area and surrounded by works from participating galleries on the theme of repetition and the module.

Another focus of this new edition will be Video Art. The medium will be in the spotlight with an invitation made to the pioneering video fair Loop Barcelona, which will present its program in a dedicated section within artgenève, bringing together around ten galleries. artgenève is thus pursuing its dynamic of collaboration with specialized fairs in artistic fields that complement its main offer.

The Prix Solo artgenève-F.P.Journe will bring together some fifteen monographic exhibitions competing under a prestigious jury composed of Beatrix Ruf and Marc-Olivier Wahler, with as a reward the donation of the awarded work to the Mamco.

Beyond its federating role, artgenève will continue its mission of supporting young art spaces in the region and internationally by inviting art spaces such as Fragile from Berlin and Daily Lazy from Athens to exhibit.

“Hors les murs”, artgenève/sculptures will present its traditional “parcours” downtown and artgenève/musique will stage "Encores" at the Victoria Hall in Geneva on Friday evening, January 31st, with works by Pierre Huyghe, Anri Sala, Saâdane Afif, Raymond Pettibon / Oliver Augst, Sam Durant and Kristin Oppenheim among others.

Fine craftsmanship will also be celebrated with the inauguration of the brand new "Arcades des Arts", located on the Pont de la Machine in the heart of Geneva, and its debut exhibition "Singular Talents" organised by the Michelangelo Foundation and the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie.

Finally, the second edition of the exhibition "get a nerve" will be held in parallel of artgenève at the Villa Sarasin, near the halls of Palexpo, in a monumental and hermetic sculptural form. During this new opus, the audience will be invited to experience feelings, outside the comfort zone usually offered by the very specific cocoon in which it is too often confined.

With its 95 galleries of contemporary and modern art, its 15 solo exhibitions, its sectors dedicated to Video Art and editions, its institutional curated spaces and private collections, artgenève is proud to display no less than 125 exhibitions end of January.

artgenève would like to thank its partners: UBS, F.P. Journe, Gübelin, Ruinart, la Mobilière, Floraïku, JTI, Christie's, Teo Jakob, Harsch, le Mandarin Oriental Genève, Manotel hotels, Driven, Holyweed, SwiftCopters, Dorier Group, MA&D and La Réserve.
